Content is king. This phrase is true, not only to you but also to your visitors and also the search engines. Your website content should be relevant to the services and products you are offering. The search engines as well as your visitors, want to match your contents with your offering. The most relevant way of doing this is to include your keywords or key phrases in your contents. The keywords should however not be repeated excessively. The contents should also be unique and should not be found elsewhere

Apart from the writing of good content making it easier for your visitors to identify your offerings and the search engines attaching a high relevance to the web pages, good quality content will also attract relevant and quality links to your website. Attracting quality links to your website will enable you to be ranked highly by the search engines.

In addition to the page contents, search engines read the page title. The page title is another important item that search engines pay attention to when they visit a web page. The page title is is the text that shows in the browser’s title bar. The importance of this is emphasised by the fact that it is the title of your listing in the search engine results in many cases. It is therefore very necessary to give each page a title that best describes the contents on the page.

This is the list of keywords or key phrases that you want associated with any given page. The emphasis of meta keywords seemed to have fallen over the years due to its abuse. It is rumoured Google pays less attention to them, thus it is recommended you do not spend to much time on this due to its low relevance in SEO terms.

Meta description is another element read by the search engines when they visit a web page. Meta description on its own may not have much influence in the search engine rankings. It is still very important as the search engine use it to describe your web page in the search results. Writing a good meta description will therefore greatly influence the number of clicks you will get from the search listings.
